Laser fusion tests ignite energy hopes

The first experiments at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s National Ignition Facility (NIF) in California have demonstrated a unique physics effect that bodes well for NIF’s success in generating a self-sustaining nuclear fusion reaction.

Haiti needs French-speaking engineers

The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) says Haiti is in need of French-speaking engineers to assist with the rebuilding effort as a result of the catastrophic January 12 earthquake that has left approximately 200,000 people dead and millions homeless.

'Greenroads' rates sustainable road projects

Road construction is a multi-billion dollar annual industry. Yet nothing comparable to the LEED rating system for buildings, or the Energy Star system for appliances, exists for highways and roads.
